 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

Yes, I realize that verse has been hung everywhere, and when legalists use it, I even want to cringe. However:

For God so loved the world (you, me, everyone else)
God gave his one and only Son, (Jesus)
that whoever believes in him (not does a bunch of things, says a specific or some sort of secret prayer)
shall not perish (shall not suffer complete ruin or destruction)
but have eternal life (lasting or existing forever; without end or beginning)

That is pretty major my friends. Life-changing. Life-giving. Sacrificial. Pretty amazing. Humbling and freeing.
